What are the causes of plastic pollution? What are the consequences for the ocean? The challenge for our community is to give the keys to the largest number of people to understand plastic pollution and act.
This is the era of the disposable: 40% of all plastics produced are thrown away within a month. Once plastics become waste, only 10% are really recycled on a global scale, and 32% end up in nature and especially in the ocean. If urgent action is not taken, the estimated 9 to 14 million tons of plastic that currently enter the ocean each year will triple in the next 20 years.
